The AFD is being organised in partnership with local charity, M.A.S.H (Military Assistance Social Hub), with help from Bridlington RNLI and assistance from the Yorkshire Coast BID.
One of the event organiser, Craig Leach, explained: “Expectations are high for a day filled with excitement and nostalgia, with a selection of activities catering to all ages and interests. From military vehicles, military themed stalls, an airsoft rifle range, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

As part of the event, visitors can delve into military history at the Spa Theatre with talks by local author Richard Jones, they can watch vintage Pathe films and enjoy vintage singers along with the Driffield Male Voice Choir – or gather outside to watch more live music performances from Coastal Voices, watch a Gurkha
traditional dance and magic shows.

The Spa Sessions Cafe will be transformed into a nostalgic NAFFI Cafe, serving up WW2 meals such as corned beef hash.

There will also be an opportunity in the nearby Yacht Club to immerse yourself in the History of the Battle of Britain with a historical talk by David Cooke who will be dressed as a WWII RAF officer.

Martin Barmby, has helped organise numerous AFD events, added: “Approximately two hundred riders will add to the spectacle as they gather at Spa Gardens on Pembroke Terrace after a ride of honour through the town.

“The parade of veterans, serving personnel and cadets will make its way through the town setting off at 11:00am from alongside theWar Memorial Gardens on Prospect Street, before culminating at the RNLI turning circle.

Weather permitting, the day will conclude with a thrilling fly-past of eight planes, providing a fitting finale to a day of celebration and remembrance. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our small team of volunteers who work tirelessly to make this event a reality each year.”
