Burton Riggs is a peaceful, green oasis.
The perfect destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, this natural wonderland features lakes, woodlands, and grasslands.
Here you can breathe in the fresh, open air and observe a variety of wildlife, such as little egrets, tufted ducks, and pochard.
An especially beloved inhabitant of the area is the great crested newt. Whether you want to take a leisurely stroll or read a book.
Burton Riggs is the perfect destination to experience the beauty and serenity of nature.
This former gravel quarry now hosts a variety of species of birds and wildlife within its 14 hectares of rugged surroundings.
The quarried-out craters are now a wetland, visited by whitethroat, blackcap and chiffchaff. Garden warblers, Grey Herons and egrets, can also occasionally be seen, mingling with the ducks. It also provides the perfect habitat for the rare Great Crested Newt.
Some footpaths run through the location for those who would like to take a breath in this small oasis just outside the busy town of Scarborough.
