What trip to the seaside would be complete without sampling fish and chips and where better than at Hadley’s?
Hadley’s first opened its doors in 1937. Its founder Alan Hadley believed in a quality product at a good price. His beliefs have continued through the years and now with over 85 years experience in the industry we have perfected the humble fish and chips.
In recent years we've been voted Whitby's Best Fish and Chips by the readers of the Whitby Gazette and continue to be a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike!
We also have two fantastic properties you can stay in, which will create a great base for you when exploring the Whitby route.

A fantastic three-bedroomed apartment, full of Whitby charm and unique quirks. Built in the 1640s, this apartment has retained much of its original charisma, with uneven floors and low ceilings. Based in the heart of the old town and overlooking the swing bridge, this beautiful cottage provides a great base for exploring Whitby.
The first floor opens onto a large living room/dining room with incredible views of the famous Whitby swing bridge. With ample seating for 6, this large room gives a perfect homely feel while still spacious—the kitchen benefits from a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and cooker.
The second staircase leads to a large double bedroom, twin bedroom, small double bedroom and great-sized family bathroom with a shower cubicle and bath.
Pets are allowed for a small charge.
Short breaks are allowed out of peak season.
Hadley's is proud to serve the finest Fish and Chips in Whitby and a choice of other wonderful fish dishes, sides and desserts.
We always source the finest ingredients; British potatoes, MSC-certified fish, home-cooked mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce.

Crystal Cottage, built in the 1640s, gives the perfect base to explore Whitby. Situated in the old town of Whitby, only a stone's throw away from the famous swing bridge. With a private courtyard and outside seating space, this stunning cottage offers an escape from the bustling town without ever having to leave the town centre.
This old cottage has been renovated to provide a 21st-century feel whilst keeping its many original features and Whitby charm. The open-plan living room/dining room has exposed beams and an original fireplace creating a homely feel whilst offering ample seating for four guests. Also on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard is a modern kitchen with a hob, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle.
The first floor consists of the stylish family bathroom with a shower over the bath, WC and sinks next to the twin bedroom.
The second staircase leads to the master double bedroom and ensuite toilet.
Crystal Cottage does allow one well-behaved pet for a small charge
