Sweet spots on Route YC

With the Yorkshire Coast being a top spot for shellfish and chippies in abundance, we know that sometimes all you want is that sweet hit, and we've got some top spots throughout Route YC.

Bothams

From sticky buns to Whitby gingerbread, Bothams is a family institution in the town of Whitby. If you're exploring the town, head to the lesser visited area of Skinner Street and stop off at the tearoom for a true Bothams experience. Don't worry if you are just passing through; they have a site on the way into Whitby with plenty of parking so you can fill up the car or van with savoury and sweet treats.

Top Tip: Get there early for a lemon bun!

Bonnets

Another long-established business, first established in1880 by Louis Bonnet and still has its Cafe, outside courtyard and restaurant upstairs. What we love about Bonnets is its Chocolatier and Bakery, where as soon as you walk in, you'll be greeted with a counter of too many to possibly choose from mini delights.

  • First floor dining room
  • Cafe Frontage
  • Dining table upstairs
  • outdoor courtyard seating

Brewers Cafe

Travelling plus shopping can be hard work, so we had to tell you about this great find in the heart of Hornsea Freeport. Their Gelatto and afternoon teas are a must try, and the great thing is, if you are travelling with your four-legged friend, they'll welcome you and their pal with open arms!

  • Ice cream flavours
  • Hooting owl gin
  • Bacon and pancakes
  • Afternoon tea tray
  • Strawberry milkshakes
  • Afternoon tea sandwiches
  • Afternoon tea cakes

Richies Cafe

If you're on the Bridlington route and looking for a pick-me-up, we highly recommend visiting Richies Cafe. No matter the time of year, you'll not only be spoilt for choice from the menu, but you can't get a better viewing spot of the sandy south bay beach.

Recommended dessert: You might be surprised at this one because they have everything from breakfasts to ice-creams, but our top dish has got to be their Apple Pie! Unfortunately, we ate this before we had the good sense to take a pic, so you'll have to take our word for it and drop in!

The Victoria Hotel

We never need an excuse to enjoy a delicious quintessential Afternoon Tea served on vintage crockery in a beautiful setting with stunning sea views. This is not only a great place to indulge but a great base if you are on the Whitby leg of Route YC.
