In 1912, the Japanese water garden was born from engineer Harry W Smith's ideas to create a place of tranquillity and difference. Its statues were purchased from nearby Killerby Hall. Peasholm Park includes the Peasholm Glen.
In the park, you can see a pagoda at the heart of the lake, which is said to be based on the Blue Willow China design. When Peasholm Park opened, it became a venue for galas, fireworks, musical performances, and exhibitions.
It was immensely popular in the pre and post-Second World War Era and remains so today. They regularly host mini-festivals and events such as the Naval Warfare (The Battle of Peasholm Park), the 'smallest human-crewed navy in the world', battles reenacted for almost 100 years.
With a rich history and much reinvestment, this park offers something for everyone to enjoy. You can explore a beautiful system of streams and waterfalls, mini bridges and magical gardens, a boating lake, putting green, and a Tree Trail.
This is a perfect place for lazy picnic days unique venue for events, still,l if you enjoy wildlife watching and gentle walks.
A Tree Trail should be experienced. You can follow the stream and see the rare and unusual trees like the Dickson's Golden Elm, manicured wildflowers, waterfalls, and a lily pond.

A Dog-friendly park. However, owners are asked to keep dogs on their leads as there is so much temptation for pups to swim in the lake and disturb the wildlife.
